The Multichoice Company (DStv) has appointed Tanzanian Evelyn Byaruhanga as the new boss of the Maisha Magic Bongo Channel, which broadcasts content focussing on the culture, life, and stories of the people of Tanzania and East Africa.
Evelyn, who has been behind the Bongo Star Search competition’s success for many years, has signed a contract with DStv, taking over from Barbara Kambogi.
Evelyn’s major responsibilities in this new role include managing the channel effectively, achieving goals, and planning and implementing content strategies.
The content strategies include films, programs, and special advertisements; managing the budget by controlling financial expenditures; coordinating the production team; making innovations; and handling complaints and comments from viewers.
The appointment of Evelyn, who is the son of Bongo Star Search Chief Judge Madame Rita Paulsen, is expected to bring cultural reality, develop talent and industry standards, promote the economy, and promote Tanzanian films outside of international platforms.
